The Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) announced the recipients of the 2022 Government Best Practice Recognition (GBPR) during the virtual conduct of the Public Sector Quality and Productivity Improvement Forum (PSQPIF) in December last year.

The GBPR is conducted annually by the DAP- Productivity and Development Center (PDC) through its Government Quality Management Program. It promotes and showcases outstanding and innovative practices demonstrated by public sector organizations. It also fosters knowledge sharing innovations that have been proven effective and helpful in improving organizational productivity and performance.

Five agencies were chosen among 219 entries and were recognized for their individual winning practices. These include: Cagayan Economic Zone Authority (Community-Based Sustainable Tourism in Palaui Island Protected Landscape and Seascape, Sta. Ana, Cagayan); Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Empowering Philippine Stakeholders on Hazards Monitoring, Damage Assessment, Warning and Local Advisory through the Use of Rapid Earthquake Damage Assessment System); Department of Agriculture-Philippine Rice Research Institute (Gender and Development Mainstreaming); Local Government Unit of Mandaue City for (Mandaue City’s eBPLS: Transcending Expectations); and Provincial Veterinary Office of Marinduque (Marinduque Veterinary Field Hospital).

“In spite of the many challenges and difficulties of a disruptive environment, you were able to thrive with excellence and determination to raise the quality of your work and achieve higher productivity,”   said DAP Senior Vice President for Programs, Magdalena L. Mendoza in congratulatory message to the recipients.

The recipients were assessed based on the following criteria: Best Practice Performance Results (30%), Best Practice Evidence (20%), Innovation (20%), Level of Deployment (10%), Replicability of Practice (10%), and Review/Next Steps Planned (10%), by well-respected experts.

The GBPR is in line with the core mandates of the DAP in empowering leaders, strengthening institutions, and building the nation through its pioneering and value-adding approaches that address development problems of local, national, and international significance. The DAP-PDC also offers capability building, technical assistance, and research related to productivity and quality improvement.
